Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction can have various causes. The origin can lie in the vascular system, like arteriosclerosis where the blood circulation is restricted, or in the psyche due to increased stress or from pressure to perform. But adhesion or tension in the myofascial system can also disturb the erectile function.

First of all, it’s important to determine how the problem presents itself. Does the dysfunction only appear when with a partner while the morning erection is normal? In this case then probably pressure to perform plays a role. I highly recommend the book “slow sex” from Diana Richardson which shows a good way to experience a fulfilling sexuality without the pressure to perform.

However, if the morning erection is also disturbed, a vascular problem or a myofascial hypertension is more likely. It is particularly important to know whether there has been any abdominal surgery e.g. appendectomy, gall bladder operation or prostate surgery. Accidents can also have an impact on the myofascial system even when they occurred years ago because they can cause adhesions in the myofascial region of the pelvis which in turn can affect the sexual organs. The manual release of such adhesions shows very quickly whether the erectile function is positively affected.

In any case, a detailed medical examination is advisable to rule out neurological or vascular causes. If no plausible explanation can be found here, a closer look at the myofascial system is certainly useful.
