Tracing the causes
A thorough assessment reveals which structures in the myofascial system are really triggering the complaints.
With fmt, the causes of pain and other problems in the myofascial system can be traced – and treated specifically. An independent method, developed over more than 40 years of practice.
Pain often does not arise where it is felt. fmt understands muscles and fascia as one connected system and follows the trail of the pain back to its origin.

With precise, manual techniques, tension is released where it arises – not just where it hurts.
Instead of merely dampening symptoms, the balance of the musculoskeletal system is restored.
fmt is an independent form of therapy that Bettina Tamura developed over decades from her work in physiotherapy and naturopathy. Its focus is the interplay of muscles and fascia.
From acute pain to chronic complaints – fmt starts where pain arises.
Tension, blockages, chronic pain
Restricted movement and radiating pain
Load-related pain and muscular imbalances
Numbness, tingling and loss of strength
Painful restriction of joint movement
When joints hurt and stiffen
Ear noises originating in the cervical spine
I have worked as a physiotherapist since 1981, before establishing my own practice as a naturopath (Heilpraktikerin) in Celle in 1999. From the very beginning, my focus has been on the treatment of pain – and over time this gave rise to my own method: functional muscle therapy by tamura®️.
I have published two books on this method. Since 2021 I have also worked as an IFS therapist, supporting people holistically – in body and mind.
The treatment of pain – the reference book on the method, published by Pflaum Verlag (in German). A well-founded insight into functional muscle therapy by tamura, for therapists and interested patients.
Buy hereIFS (Internal Family Systems) views our inner world as a system of different “parts”. With an attitude of appreciation, we learn to understand these parts and bring them into a new balance – a gentle, profound form of psychotherapy.
Body and mind are closely connected. Where fmt works on the tissue, IFS works with the inner experience – the two complement each other naturally.
